Programme Leadership

Shaping the leaders of tomorrow.

Beginning in 2008, I became a Lecturer in Media and Culture at the University of Roehampton. This period marked a significant shift in the higher education sector, with a focus on developing employability and leadership skills among university graduates.

I supported this agenda by designing and delivering the flagship courses, building students' critical thinking and communication skills. My training taught students to apply methods for analysing and investigating different media forms and emerging technologies.

In 2012, I became a Fellow of the Higher Education and, shortly after, took on Programme Leadership for two leading programmes: BA(Hons) Media, Culture & Identity and Media Communications. I also designed and delivered training that was cross-listed to the BA(Hons) Digital Media and Journalism programmes.

During 2018-19, I oversaw the revalidation of the Media, Culture & Identity degree programme. In 2019, I became an external examiner for taught programmes at the University of Nottingham (UK, China, and Malaysia), and in 2017, I supported an enhanced review of the BA Media Communications degree at London College of Communication, UAL. I also served as an internal reviewer for a number of degree programmes at Roehampton.

Throughout my career, I coordinated research modules and supported the delivery of the postgraduate degree in Media and Communications. I led workshops for doctoral students and supervised my own PhD candidates' projects, including serving as Director of Studies on several occasions.

My teaching was centred on emerging technologies, not just as a subject matter but also as tools for delivering blended online and face-to-face teaching and learning. This was well before the pandemic. My work also often involved supporting students with significant care responsibilities and complex needs.

In 2018, I was funded to complete the AdvanceHE and Leadership Academy programme, Leading Transformation in Learning and Teaching for Senior Leaders. Through this, I designed and piloted a university-funded programme for ‘Embedding Mindfulness in the Curriculum.’
